Free Wills service

Why not take advantage of our Free Will offer?

MDUK offers a scheme that enables you to make your Will for free. It is easy to do and doesn't need to be expensive.

Our membership of the National Free Wills Network means that we can cover the costs for you to have a simple or mirror Will written by qualified solicitors within reasonable travelling distance of where you live. We always advise that you seek professional advice when writing your Will.

Why does MDUK provide a Free Wills Service?

A lot of people include a gift in their Will to us when they are using this service. You don’t have to, but we do hope you’ll consider it. Gifts in Wills have played a very important part in funding progress in research and still fund a quarter of all the work we do.

To be referred for a free Will, fill in this form and tick the Free Wills Service box. Our partner, the National Free Wills Network, will then send you the names and addresses of at least two local firms of solicitors taking part in this scheme. The solicitor draws up your Will and you don’t have to pay the bill.

If you have any questions about leaving a gift in your Will, please get in touch using this online form, or contact our Legacy team at legacy@musculardystrophyuk.org.

"My first child was born recently and it made me think more seriously about getting a Will in place, something I’ve put off for many years. I had heard about MDUK’s Free Will service, so I completed the online form on the MDUK website to kick off the process.

Within a few days I was contacted by the National Free Wills Network with a list of local solicitors I could choose from to write my Will. The nearest was just five minutes from my house, and we arranged a visit to draw up a mirror Will for my wife and me.

The process was so simple and didn’t cost us anything. We also chose to include a gift to MDUK in our Will – it felt great to know we could support the charity’s work in this way while in return having peace of mind that we now have a Will in place."
